Breed Education Seminar

It’s all Greek to Me: An in Depth Study of the Collie Standard

Our next breed Education seminar is all about you! Have you ever heard or been confused about Collie terms or even some of the wording of the Standard? What words not in the Standard have you heard used in or about it and what do they mean?

Examples of confused terms OR descriptors:
Corners on a skull ~ Chiseling ~ No useless timber ~ Obliquely set ~ Depth of head ~ Finish ~ Lean/Clean ~ Dug out stop ~ "Gooey" ~ One piece head ~ 3 corner eye ~ Almond ~ Flat frontal bone ~ Medium sized eyes (relative to balance) ~ Balance ~ Stove pipe muzzle ~ Tulip ears ~ Ewe neck, Swan neck ~ Slight prominence of the brows ~ Long in the loin, length of loin ~ Cow hocks, Sickle hocks ~ Single tracking ~ Top line…head or back? ~ Two planes of head ~ Filled backskull, Imperceptible stop ~ Throaty . . .

Wouldn’t you love to hear fellow Collie enthusiasts explain the terms of the Standard and the words that are used to describe it in understandable terms?

Come be part of this year’s informative National seminar, Tuesday, March 27, hosted by the Breed Education Committee and conquer the “Greek!”

Watch for further information in this space and through Constant Contact.
