President’s Message . . .

"Gratitude"

I hope this finds you all well and enjoying the summer weather. The Newsletters from the "Collie Club of America News" have been keeping you informed of what is going on between Communiques. This is thanks to Judy Guthrie and the Communications Committee, along with Janie Clymer, our Secretary.

The 2021 Show Committee and Chair, Robette Johns have been working diligently to move forward with the 2021 National show plans. Joan Johnson has been training and building a website just for National Specialty Shows. Thank you to Joan and the Show Committee for a great job.

Breed Education made available to us on June 25th their 2020 National presentation by means of a Webinar with Dr. Casey Knox and Sue Pearce-Kelling from Wisdom Health. Thank you to Patt Caldwell and the Breed Ed Committee for continuing to offer and educate us on the Breed.

The Judges Education Committee has offered their magazine for sale. Thank you to Dan Cardoza and the Judges Ed Committee. This magazine is not just for judges you as breeders and owners will enjoy a visual interpretation of the Collie Standard.

The Outreach Committee has been busy bringing you "Bedtime Stories" and Breeder Interviews. These were organized by Nancy Anstruther and the new interviews were conducted by Nancy, Lauren Falk, and Matt Stelter. There are also some wonderful new and archived U-tube videos that the membership might want to watch. Thank you to Linda Mabus and the Public Relations Committee for keeping us connected.

Our IT Committee has been working extremely hard to update the website. Thank you to Lori Montero and Gary Jordan for continuing to work on this. Larry Parsons has been handing our discussion group and the recording of the meetings. Larry and Lori are working on improving the quality of the recordings, so the membership can receive meeting recordings that are clear and organized. Larry also has been very helpful with those of us who are not familiar with how things work on the technical side. Thank you to both of you for volunteering your time and talents.

I received word that the printer has requested a current mailing list and our CCA Summer Bulletin will be arriving soon! Thanks to Sue Webber, Karen Soeder, Lenise Adams, and all the Bulletin Committee members. To those of you who contributed articles for us to read and ads for us to view we appreciate your dedication to the CCA Bulletin. I, for one, look forward to seeing the beautiful entries that would have been at the 2020 National in Syracuse, NY. We are all excited to receive our Summer 2020 issue!

The Realignment Committee has presented its proposal for 15 Directors along with 5 Officers, which was approved at the June 25th meeting. The BODs along with the Committee have come forward with the district map and we will be voting on it at the next meeting. The map is included in this Communique. Thank you to Jackie Caruso, Kathy Drabik, and the Directors for working together to accomplish this goal. This progress allows us to move forward with the Constitution and By-Law revision. Another review by our Not-for-Profit NY attorney, then on to AKC for their approval, and then we send to the membership for your review and vote. Thank you to the Constitution Committee, Lenell Nix, Mike Esch, Susan Kaelin, Ed Degner, Vicki Lee, and Jane Clymer. All of the CCA Committees are submitting guidelines that will assist the Constitution. Thank you to Isabel Ososki and the Operations Manual Committee for compiling all this information. If your committee has not completed this task, please do so as soon as possible. This will be our next document for review and approval.

The Budget and Finance Committee has closed out the 2020 National Show Account. The bottom line for the financials is at zero … no profit, no loss to the CCA as everything was refunded. A huge "Thank You" to Mike Esch, Lori Montero, Michelle Esch-Brook, her daughter, Tess, and those of you who also pitched in to assist Mike with all those refunds. According to Mike, there were over 800 checks to write, a sorting and consolidating process, along with PayPal refunds. Your time and work are greatly appreciated. Laura LaBounty and Candy Ardizzone have emptied the storage units for 2020 and have been shipping the merchandise. Thank you to the 2020 Show Committee for working through a very tough situation.

There are several more Committees working and volunteering their time to make this Club thrive. I wanted to acknowledge that the dedication and time volunteered to the Breed and the managing of the CCA is greatly appreciated by this President. I have a 2-year plan, but to accomplish it will require a team effort. I have to say that the Committees, Board, and members are pulling together and making it possible.

Thank you all,

Annette Rawlings, President
Collie Club of America

Secretary's Message . . .

Hope you all are receiving the Collie Club of America NEWS, "Our online Newsletter" with all the new important updates for CCA 2021 in Pomona, CA. The new CCA National web page developed by Joan Johnson, which we must thank immensely, is up and running. This site will be used by 2021 and for all future CCA Nationals to combine trophy donations, calendar of events, purchasing, and attending seminars and dinners. It is designed to be a "one-stop-shopping" experience with payment either by PayPal or check. If you haven't had a chance to explore the site, we invite you to do so by going to this link: https://collieclubofamericanational.org/

If you are not receiving the online newsletter, please contact Judy Guthrie, ccofamembership@gmail.com, for help so you will be receiving updates such as important news on 2021, the Communique and Ballot which is being reviewed by the Board, and postings to the website on previous Communique's and Ballots already voted upon. Soon, you will find on the CCA website a new order form for our CCA Material Sales. This form lists the following items for sale: Yearbooks from the past, booklets on Performance, a booklet on the history of the Club, the Illustrated Standard, and of course, our treasured issues of the Library of Champion books.

Be watching your mailbox for the soon to be printed and released Summer Bulletin issue. This issue is introducing Lenise Adams, the new Bulletin Editor with a big Thank You to our standing co-editors from the past several years – Sue Webber and Karen Soeder who also worked on this Bulletin. The gathering of all this material has been to honor the 2020 CCA National Committee and their dreams of a wonderful National that I am sure all would have enjoyed. We thank the contributors that shared pictures of your lovely entries along with articles, pictures, and special write ups for your reading enjoyment.

We are now beginning a new phase in collie history as presently, we have three nationals planning towards their special presentations with CCA 2021 in Pomona CA, CCA 2022 in Salt Lake City, UT, and CCA 2023 in Ft. Wayne, IN. Bid notices for 2024 have been sent to Zone 1 and a heads up to Zone 2 in case there is a pass. The Board has voted on new Committee chairs for 2020-2022 and these along with new Board members have been sent to be posted on the CCA website. Thanks, Lori Montero, for joining the CCA Website Committee as the Board's Liaison for changes as we vote to continue to improve our ways of communication with members. In the works, the new Constitution draft is ready to be sent to our NY State Not for Profit attorney for last verification, then on to AKC, and if no more additional changes are needed it will be sent to CCA members for their consideration and approval.

Please contact your District Director or DAL so they can inform the Board if you know of any CCA member or their family that has been under the weather or has passed so our Sunshine Committee can send out a card. We want to send some "good will or comfort" to them or their family. Putting this information just on Facebook does not let all the Board and Membership know how our members are coping during this challenging time. Directors, please communicate this news by using the Groups .io list. Thank you for your assistance.

Members, if you would like to join a committee, please let us know about yourself and why you would like to join, along with some information on your skills to offer to that particular committee. Thanks to all working on getting the news out to members and to all of you for your support to keep this old, honored Club moving forward.

Keep safe, be kind to each other, and hug your collies,

Janie

NOTE: Since the Ballot was presented, the President has contacted those submitting the 2020 bid for Springfield and found they had already released all the dates with the presented showsite and hotel. Therefore, Syracuse has the bid for 2020. However we have requested of them to submit another bid for expenses and income proposed for 2020 since they had agreed to a four day conformation rather than the five day that was originally proposed. Hence, the need for anew clarification of the expense and income statement of the proposal. This will be voted on by the Board.
